NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
A native of Sutherland Springs, Texas, I was raised in a family of five on a dairy farm. I am the fourth generation to live on a few hundred acres of land in Wilson County. I have always relied on my faith to guide my life, and deep roots in Sutherland Springs are a product of my family’s commitment to this community. An avid sportsman, I began shooting at a young age and honed my shooting skills by participating in shooting competitions as I grew older. I made sure my three children were trained in gun safety, passing along my expertise. After the deadly mass shooting in November 2017, I become known across the country as the “good guy with a gun.” I credit God's unwavering faithfulness, instead of bravery, as to why I was able to intercede during this event, and I believe that each day of my life prepared me for what happened on that Sunday morning.
Because of my service to my community, I was also an honored guest of members of the Texas delegation at the 2018 State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. An experienced professional plumber, I earned my license from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship School in San Antonio and have nearly 37 years of experience in my field. In 2018, Governor Greg Abbott appointed me to serve on the Texas Private Security Board. I am a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), and a former Assistant Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. I have spent time in my community, serving when I can, both assisting community members fix their plumbing and carpentry, and teaching gun safety. After years of service in an unofficial capacity, I believe I am ready to move forward in an official capacity to better serve the community
